Work is progressing on the new PharmaNutra HQ

Starting in March, the steel skeleton of the structure will be built, the second stage in the project that will see the construction of the new PharmaNutra HQ in Pisa, destined to house one of the most innovative nutritional research and development laboratories.

An idea that is taking shape. A dream coming to life. A huge project that is taking shape, day after day, thanks to the constant work of a team of professionals who have been involved in this race against time since last summer: the construction of the PharmaNutra S.p.A. headquarters and pharmaceutical centre, which will be located in Pisa, in Campalto, in the area next to the San Rossore Park.

It has been more than five months since the foundation stone was laid on 30 August 2021 at a ceremony attended by the Mayor of Pisa Michele Conti, the Archbishop of Pisa Mons. Giovanni Paolo Benotto and the main local authorities. A ceremony at which brothers Andrea and Roberto Lacorte, President and Vice-President of the PharmaNutra Group company respectively, gave the official start to the construction site.

The works are being carried out by the General Contractor SACAIM S.p.A., a subsidiary of the international construction company Rizzani de Eccher, on a project by Caponi & Arrighi Architetti Associati, Studio Tecnico Associato EMMEGI di Malvaldi e Grassini Geometri and C&P Engineering S.r.l. amounting to a total investment of approximately €18 million.

To date, work is progressing on schedule and what was just a construction site at the end of August is now something much more concrete, both in form and substance. The project for the new PharmaNutra headquarters involves the reclamation and “reconstruction” of an existing structure–which will be used for production, with areas dedicated to scientific activities, quality control and one of the most innovative nutritional research and development laboratories in Europe–as well as the construction from scratch of a building designed to meet the highest standards of technology, functionality and energy efficiency, dedicated to management activities and complementary services, with over 10,000 m² of outdoor areas.

And it is precisely this new building, designed to have a low environmental impact while maintaining a simple and functional layout, that is beginning to take shape, with the first stages of construction which are scheduled to begin in March involving the structure’s steel skeleton; it is a project that fully reflects the philosophy of the company, which from the outset has always placed people at the centre of its activities, in a perfect combination of flexibility, efficiency, research, innovation and quality.

nuova sede pharmanutra - Roberto e Andrea Lacorte in cantiere

“Work is progressing according to plan, and considering the complexity of this project, we are very happy that everything is going well. The objective remains to move into the new building at the beginning of 2023, and we are right on schedule, President Andrea Lacorte said. “It will be a crucial moment in the history of our company, a moment that we have been looking forward to for years and that will give a further boost to all the companies in the PharmaNutra Group, which, thanks to the construction of an innovative research laboratory and the new production hub, will have full control in the production of raw materials and concrete autonomy in terms of R&D activities”.

The new headquarters of the company founded in 2003 by the Lacorte brothers will cover a total area of more than 5,200 m², of which 2,200 m² will be used for production, 1,600 m² for management activities and approximately 1,500 for complementary services, with more than 10,000 m² of outdoor areas.

Given its location at the gates of the San Rossore natural park, it also represents a concrete commitment in terms of sustainability, understood both as attention to the environment and to people, with the presence of various green areas, relaxation and communal areas, as well as a gym, designed for the well-being of workers. This is a considerable step forward, which not only consolidates the company’s rapid and impressive growth in recent years, but also represents an important investment in the development of the Pisa area, with economic, employment and social benefits for the city and province of Pisa.
