Vitamina Veloce SiderAL ends the M32 2018 circuit in second place

With the last spectacular races held last Saturday in the Gulf of Trieste, the last stage of the Cetilar M32 Sailing Series 2018 came to an end, the international race circuit reserved for the M32 catamarans that took place all year long in Valencia, Marina di Pisa, Kristiansand (NOR), Aarhus (DEN) and Gargnano, on Lake Garda. It was an intense season, which had one of the absolute protagonists Vitamina Sailing, the team led by the entrepreneur Andrea Lacorte, founder and President of PharmaNutra SPA which ended at the second place in the final ranking and a victory among the Corinthians, the special classification reserved for owners-helmsmen.

In Trieste, for the last stage of the season that took place from Thursday to Saturday as part of the events that preceded the Barcolana’s 50th edition, a total of eight races were run, just a few meters from the shore to allow the massive crowd to closely follow the evolutions of the fast M32 catamarans and live a show made of breathtaking maneuvers, spectacular overtaking and adrenaline rushes. The stage victory went to the British of GAC Pindar, with Vitamina Veloce SiderAL ending in third place, a success that allowed the team of the match race champion Ian Williams to win this 2018 edition of the Cetilar M32 Sailing Series in front of the same Vitamina and the Swedish team Vikings, led by Hakan Svensson.

After the successfully wrapping of the M32 regattas, the 2018 of Vitamina Sailing – racing for the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara of Pisa with logistic headquarter at the Port of Pisa – is going on with the last seasonal rendez-vous of the Melges 40 Grand Prix, the circuit reserved for Melges 40 one design in which Vitamin Cetilar is one of the main players. The appointment is from 8 to 11 November in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, the same location that will host the first two events of the 2019 circuit (24-27 January and 21-24 March).

“The M32 season ended in a crazy scenario, in one of the world’s most crowdy regatta. And in this context, watching five very fast catamarans that sailed three times the speed of all the other boats, was something special and wonderful “, explains Andrea Lacorte. “In Trieste we raced in all possible wind conditions, up to 20 knots on the last day, in which we exceeded 30 knots of speed. I can guarantee you that, , at 58 years, on boats that require exceptional fitness, sailing at those speeds is not a joke. Generally the season has been beautiful and intense, and the final result is more than satisfying, because we are first among the crews with non-professional helmsman, as well as second in general.
Lacorte continues:  “Next year, we expect a very intense season, with some changes related to the class management and the racing circuit. The idea is to have a continental class more cohesive with the American one and a more structured circuit with three stages in Scandinavia, three in Italy and the World Championship on Lake Garda, which will be attended by several US crews. Based on these prerogatives and with the guarantee of being able to rely on services fully appropriated to the name of our company, we will evaluate whether to sponsor the European circuit again with our Cetilar brand. It is surely in our intentions, also because the M32 is a super fun, economic and safe boat – much more than many one-designs in circulation – with an unmatched cost / fun ratio in the competitive sailing and new several facilities coming for the new owners”.
