Its causes are multiple, including:<br><br>\u2022 Periods of stress<br>\u2022 Irregular lifestyle<br>\u2022 Unbalanced diets<br>\u2022 Seasonal changes<br>\u2022 Aging<br>\u2022 Disturbed sleep<br>\u2022 Intense physical activity<br><br>Among these, <strong>post-stroke fatigue (PSF)<\/strong> is a frequent and frustrating outcome for stroke survivors. <strong>It can persist for years, interfering with daily activities and overall quality of life. <\/strong>Clinically, PSF is hard to define due to its <strong>subjective nature<\/strong>, but it typically involves intense tiredness, early exhaustion, and difficulty performing even simple tasks.<sup>1,2<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Incidence and Impact of Post-Stroke Fatigue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Post-stroke fatigue <strong>affects over 40% of patients<\/strong> in the early stages following the event and <strong>significantly impacts the rehabilitation process<\/strong>. It reduces both motor and cognitive recovery capacity, making it harder for patients to regain independence.<sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Role of Nutrition and Micronutrients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A healthy and balanced diet is essential for general well-being and sustained energy levels. To <strong>combat fatigue and boost energy through diet<\/strong>, it is important to consume foods that offer essential nutrients and a steady energy release. While macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats) provide energy, micronutrients\u2014vitamins and minerals\u2014ensure the proper functioning of cellular metabolism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vitamins <\/strong>are a heterogeneous group of <strong>organic compounds<\/strong> classified based on their solubility: w<em>ater-soluble<\/em> (e.g., vitamin B12, C) and <em>fat-soluble<\/em> (e.g., vitamin D, E). They are absorbed throughout the small intestine, some in the duodenum (e.g., vitamin D), others in the ileum (e.g., vitamin B12).<br><strong>Minerals <\/strong>are essential <strong>inorganic compounds<\/strong> that must be obtained from the diet, as the body cannot synthesize them. Once ingested, they are not metabolized by any enzyme and are primarily absorbed in the duodenum, the first segment of the small intestine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamins and minerals are <strong>vital for cellular energy production, muscle function, and brain health<\/strong>.<sup>4<\/sup> A deficiency in these micronutrients can lead to lethargy and both physical and mental fatigue.<sup>5,6<\/sup> Specifically:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Iron deficiency, even without anemia, impairs muscular function.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Magnesium deficiency increases oxygen demand and reduces physical endurance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplementation and Sucrosomial<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Supplementing vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, E, K) and minerals such as iron and magnesium can improve both physical and cognitive performance.
