Sucrosomial® Iodine

ULTRAIOD® is a functional ingredient based on Sucrosomial® Iodine, developed to ensure a controlled intake of an essential micronutrient involved in thyroid function.
The combination of sodium iodate with Sucrosomial® Technology improves absorption and tolerability compared to traditional iodine sources.

The ULTRAIOD® formulation

ULTRAIOD® is a formulation of Sucrosomial® Iodine obtained by combining sodium iodate (with a content of 1% elemental iodine) and a matrix of phospholipids and sucrose esters of fatty acids.
Thanks to the application of Sucrosomial® Technology, the sodium iodate molecule is protected from the acidic gastric environment and transported to the small intestine, where absorption and subsequent systemic transport take place. This delivery method improves the absorption of iodine and promotes its proper utilisation by the body.

The physiological role of iodine

Iodine is an essential mineral involved in the synthesis of thyroid hormones, particularly thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroid hormones play a central role in the regulation of numerous physiological processes, including energy metabolism, cognitive function, functioning of the nervous system and the maintenance of normal skin.

Adequate iodine intake therefore contributes to the support of various physiological functions, as recognised by EFSA-approved health claims.
