Sucrosomial® Selenium

ULTRASEL® is a functional ingredient based on selenium designed to meet the needs of nutraceutical formulations requiring a precise, stable and well-tolerated supply of this essential micronutrient.
Developed by Pharmanutra Ingredients, ULTRASEL® combines an inorganic form of selenium with an advanced delivery system, with the aim of promoting effective absorption and proper utilisation by the body.

The Sucrosomial® formulation of ULTRASEL®

ULTRASEL® uses sodium selenite as a selenium source, standardised to 0.3% elemental selenium, integrated into a matrix of phospholipids and sucrose esters of fatty acids known as Sucrosome®.
This structure allows selenium to be protected during gastric passage and transported to the small intestine, where absorption occurs, contributing to enhanced gastrointestinal tolerability than conventional forms.

The physiological role of selenium

Selenium is an essential micronutrient that, although present in the body in small quantities, is involved in several fundamental biological processes.
It contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the protection of cells from oxidative stress and the maintenance of normal thyroid function. It is also involved in the maintenance of normal hair and nails and normal spermatogenesis, as recognised by EFSA-approved health claims.
