Sucrosomial® Zinc

ULTRAZIN® is a functional ingredient based on zinc, developed by Pharmanutra Ingredients to address the critical issues typical of the supplementation of this micronutrient, particularly in terms of absorption, tolerability and palatability. It is designed to ensure an adequate zinc intake even in advanced formulations, overcoming the limitations of conventional sources.

The ULTRAZIN® formulation

ULTRAZIN® is a formulation of Sucrosomial® Zinc obtained from zinc oxide, with a content of 42% elemental zinc, delivered via a matrix of phospholipids and sucrose esters of fatty acids.
Thanks to the application of the Sucrosomial® Technology, zinc is able to pass through the gastric environment without interacting with the gastric mucosa or other nutrients, to be released and absorbed in the small intestine. This delivery method contributes to improving zinc absorption and reducing the common undesirable effects associated with traditional salts, such as unpleasant flavour and low tolerability.

The physiological role of zinc

Zinc is an essential micronutrient involved in numerous biological processes and is not accumulated in specific reserves within the body, making regular intake through diet or supplementation necessary. It is distributed in various tissues, particularly muscles, bones and skin, and plays a key role in supporting the immune system, in protecting cells from oxidative stress and in the metabolism of macronutrients, fatty acids and vitamin A.

Adequate zinc intake therefore contributes to the maintenance of multiple physiological functions, as recognised by EFSA-approved health claims.
