Melges-40-Vitamina-Cetilar

The One Ocean Melges 40 Grand Prix ended yesterday in Porto Cervo. Organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the second stage in the season circuit of the fast and spectacular one design produced by Melges has seen our Melges 40 Vitamina Cetilar among the main figures of the event.

After a total of nine races completed in three days (everybody stayed on land on friday because of the strong Mistral), the Vitamina Sailing Team in regatta with the Melges 40 Vitamina Cetilar helmed by Andrea Lacorte and with Gabriele Benussi as tactician closed the event in fourth place, at just one point from the podium and the third place of the Japanese Sikon, and at three points from the second on rankings, the Italian Stig by Alessandro Rombelli. The victory went to Richard Goransson’s INGA From Sweden (with tactician Francesco Bruni from Luna Rossa). However the final result is full of satisfactions for the Vitamina Sailing Team, in the last two races of the series Andrea Lacorte’s boat has obtained a second place and a great victory, the first win in this season debut with the class Melges 40.

“We are pleased with the way we ccncluded this stage in Porto Cervo: finally we bring home a race victory, after having worked hard in recent months to get a better knowledge of the boat, which is fantastic, improving day after day”, said Andrea Lacorte at the end of the regatta. “We missed the final podium for just one point, in what I think was the first true regatta for the Melges 40 class, in very different wind conditions and with a fleet very close in terms of performance and results”.

This stage of Porto Cervo is packed and as always it’s been perfect also from the organizational point of view, the Vitamina Sailing will return on the water in early August in Palma de Mallorca, for the third Grand Prix of the Melges 40 circuit, which will be held during the famous Copa del Rey, one of the main events of the offshore sailing between the buoys in the Mediterranean. After this event, the team led by the President of PharmaNutra SPA will be engaged again on board the catamaran M32 Vitamin Veloce SiderAL, for the fifth stage of the Cetilar M32 European Sailing Series, scheduled from 5 to 7 September on Lake Garda.
